Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our Pharmacy First Plus service

1

What's the difference between Pharmacy First and Pharmacy First Plus?

Pharmacy First is the standard NHS service for minor ailments available at all community pharmacies in Scotland. Pharmacy First Plus is our enhanced service offering access to a prescribing pharmacist who can treat a wider range of conditions and prescribe medications that would normally require a GP.

2

Is there a cost for this service?

No, Pharmacy First Plus is provided free of charge to patients who are registered with a Scottish GP practice or who live in Scotland.

3

Do I need to make an appointment?

No appointment is necessary. Simply visit during Amir's consultation hours: Monday to Friday from 12:30pm to 5:30pm. However, consultations are on a first-come, first-served basis, so there might be a short wait during busy periods.

4

What should I bring with me?

It's helpful to bring your CHI number (found on your prescription) if you have it, but this isn't essential. If you're on any medications, having a list of these is useful. For certain conditions, you might be asked for some identification.
